Next Dorm Terms of Service

Last updated: September 7, 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Next Dorm, which is built and operated by UpTempo Group ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

1. Eligibility and verification

You must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority where you live) and a currently enrolled student at a college or university we support. Access requires verifying a valid school email address (typically .edu) that belongs to you. We may add additional verification steps (including age estimation or enrollment verification) at any time.

You may not: share an account, use anyone else's email address, create more than one account, keep using Next Dorm after you are no longer enrolled, or misrepresent your school or student status. We may suspend or terminate any account we believe violates this section.

Next Dorm is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

2. Your account

You are responsible for activity on your account and for keeping access to your school email secure. Each account receives a randomly assigned campus alias. You have no right to a particular alias, and we may change or retire aliases.

3. The service

Next Dorm is an anonymous, campus-scoped feed. By default you see and post to your own school's community. Some content may be nominated by users and selected by us for a cross-campus ("All Campus") feed visible to users at other schools. If you post, you accept that your post may be nominated for and promoted to that wider audience.

We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of Next Dorm at any time.

4. Anonymity — and its limits

Your real name and email are never shown to other users. Anonymity is a feature of the community, not a shield for harm. We retain the internal link between your account and your content, and we may access, preserve, and disclose it where we believe in good faith it is necessary to: enforce these Terms, investigate abuse, comply with law or valid legal process, or protect the rights, safety, or property of any person.

Do not treat Next Dorm as untraceable, and do not post anything you would not want associated with you in a legal proceeding.

5. Your content and license

You retain ownership of what you post. By posting, you grant UpTempo Group a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for formatting and moderation), and distribute your content in connection with operating, promoting, and improving Next Dorm, including in the All Campus feed. This license continues for content you have deleted only to the extent copies remain in backups, moderation records, or content that others have already interacted with.

You represent that you have the rights to everything you post and that it does not violate these Terms or any law. You are solely responsible for your content even though it appears anonymously.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to post, share, or transmit content that:

  • harasses, bullies, threatens, stalks, or targets any person or group;
  • names, identifies, or attempts to identify another user, or reveals anyone's private information (real names, phone numbers, addresses, room numbers, class schedules, social handles, photos of identifiable people without consent);
  • is hateful or discriminatory on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation;
  • is sexually explicit, pornographic, or sexualizes minors in any way;
  • promotes, encourages, or glorifies self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or violence;
  • promotes illegal drugs, weapons sales, hazing, academic cheating services, or other illegal activity;
  • is spam, advertising, recruiting, or commercial solicitation;
  • is unlawful, defamatory, fraudulent, or infringes anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights; or
  • impersonates any person, organization, or Next Dorm staff.

You also agree not to scrape, crawl, or bulk-collect content; use bots or automation; reverse engineer the app; create multiple or evasion accounts; circumvent verification, blocks, bans, or rate limits; or interfere with the app or its infrastructure.

7. Zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users

We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. To that end:

  • Automated screening. Every post and comment is screened by automated systems (including AI) before publication for hate speech, threats, sexual content, harassment, and personally identifying information. Content may be blocked or altered by this screening.
  • Reporting. Every post and comment can be reported in-app. Reports are reviewed by us.
  • Automatic removal. Content that receives reports from three or more distinct users is automatically hidden pending human review.
  • Review timeline. We aim to review reported content and act on it within 24 hours, including removing content and ejecting the users responsible.
  • Blocking. You can block any author from the app; blocked users' posts and comments disappear from your view. Blocking is anonymous and is not disclosed to the blocked user.
  • Enforcement. We may warn, hide content, restrict features, suspend, or permanently ban accounts and devices, with or without notice, at our discretion.

We may, but are not obligated to, monitor content. Nothing posted by other students is verified, endorsed, or guaranteed by UpTempo Group.

To report content or an account outside the app, or to appeal an enforcement action, email support@uptempo.work.

8. Notifications and invitations

If you enable notifications, we may send push or email notifications based on the preferences you set. You can change or disable them at any time in the app or your device settings.

Invitations are optional. If you invite someone by link, email, text, or QR code, you confirm you have the right to contact them. We do not tell you whether an invited person joined, and we do not sell contacts or use them for advertising.

9. Pausing and deleting your account

You may pause your account at any time from the You page. While paused, you cannot post or comment, and content you already posted remains visible.

You may permanently delete your account at any time from the You page, or by emailing support@uptempo.work. Deletion removes your account, verification record, settings, and blocks. Content you previously posted may remain in the app permanently disassociated from you and unattributable, so conversations others participated in are not destroyed. Deletion cannot be undone, and we may retain limited records where required by law or for safety and abuse prevention.

10. Intellectual property

Next Dorm, including its software, design, branding, and content we create, is owned by UpTempo Group and protected by law. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app for personal, non-commercial purposes under these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works from the app.

If you believe content on Next Dorm infringes your copyright, send a DMCA notice to support@uptempo.work with the required details.

11. Third-party services and app stores

Next Dorm relies on third-party providers for hosting, email, analytics, and AI moderation. If you obtained the app through the Apple App Store or Google Play, you also agree to that store's terms. These Terms are between you and UpTempo Group only; Apple and Google are not parties, are not responsible for the app or its content, and have no obligation to provide support. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

12. Disclaimers

Next Dorm is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or that moderation will catch all objectionable content. Content posted by users does not reflect the views of UpTempo Group. Next Dorm is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any college or university, and school names and logos are used only to identify communities.

Next Dorm is not a crisis service. If you or someone else is in danger, contact local emergency services or a crisis line immediately.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, UpTempo Group and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, goodwill, or emotional distress, arising from or related to your use of Next Dorm or any user content. Our total liability for any claim relating to Next Dorm will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless UpTempo Group from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your content, your use of the app, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.

15. Termination

You may stop using Next Dorm at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, including for violations of these Terms or when required by law. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing prevents either party from seeking relief in small claims court.

17. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as Next Dorm evolves. Material changes will be reflected by a new "last updated" date and, where appropriate, in-app notice. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
